The roof wetting party was held in one of the beautiful Friday evening. Of course I spend my evenings shift that only a few days I was able to help on the roof. Mikko got to do the other side of the roof, otherwise he entertained in working trips.
 屋根完成パーティーは、ある晴れた金曜日の夜に行いました。もちろん私も自分の仕事を調整しこの日に臨み、数日間ではありましたが屋根工事を助ける事もできました。Mikkoは他方の屋根工事をした後、出張に出掛けました。

The Mother Nature gave us a favorable, threw snow on the ground until the night of Wednesday. It’s not in decades, come so late in the winter to here in Lapland. I could say that “it was better than 100 hares” (Finnish phrase). 
 母なる自然は私達に利益をもたらし、水曜日の夜までに大地へ雪を降らします。それは数十年もの間、ここラップランドに冬が来るのが遅くなっていないという事。“その恵みは１００の野ウサギより良い”（フィンランドのことわざ）

I really have to tell you about our local hardware store. One of the sellers there told us last May that when our bill arrives home we shouldn’t pay it through bank but come to store and pay it there. That way we could have got some bonus points. Well, we did as adviced about four months. One day when I went to pay our bills other seller (the owner) told me that I won’t get any bonus points if I pay bills. I also heard first time that I should come to pay bills every Monday. So bye bye all the bonus points!
Seller nro. 1 just wondered that we hadn’t got any points? Sometimes it is really nerve-wracking try to work with sellers that aren’t proficient… Time shows if they compensate this to us at all. Surely we’ve had other things in mind too than bonus points. So you who plan building, remember the lesson of this story.

さて、地元のハードウエアーストアーの話をします。　５月、あるストアーの1社に立ち寄った時、以下のようなアドバイスを受けました。請求書が自宅に届いた時に銀行から振込むのでは無く、ストアーに来て支払うようにと言われました。　これはボーナスポイントを獲得する為で、私達はこのアドバイスに４ケ月間従いました。　ところがある日、別な同系列のストアーに支払いの為立ち寄った時に、ポイントカード機にカードを入れようとしたところ「ポイントは付かないので入れる必要が無いですよ」と言われました。え~ぇ？？？　実は私が勘違いをしていて、こういうシステムだったようです。「ショップから請求書が来る前に支払の為にショップへ行くとポイントが付く」、という事だったのです。そういえば最初このポイントシステムに入会する時に聞いた覚えがありました。そういえば毎週月曜日に支払いに行っていたなぁ・・・・　あ～ぁ全てのボーナスポイントさん、さようなら・・・・
だけど・・・ショップのレジ係は私達にポイントが無い事を不思議に思わなかったのかしら？　まあ、ショップのスタッフにも熟練した人も、そうでない人も居ますから仕方ない話でしょうね。　これはこれから建築なさる方々へのアドバイスをさしあげました。


(In Finland many people own certain K- bonus point card, which one shows when buying something from K-shops. K-shops can be food stores, hardware stores etc. just as long as they belong to K-group. One gets points according to things one buys. With bonus points one can get discount later.)

フィンランドでは多くの人が　Ｋショップのボーナスポイントカードを持っています。Ｋショップで購入する際に提示するシステムです。Ｋショップは食品からハードウエアーまで扱っていますが１回の購入で１ポイント。ボーナスポイントも獲得することができます。

運送担当のMoilanen Oy社が最初のログ壁を工場から輸送してきました。

Finally the logs came! Once we got started, log walls rose quite fast. Transportation Company Moilanen Oy transported logs from factory to building site, daily the amount we need. It’s nice we didn’t have to take all the logs to the building site at once. Carpenters and Veli-Matti Moilanen moved logs to their places with crane. It took one week, but now we have log walls! Weather was very good at the assembling-dates. It has also been a pleasure working with Ikihirsi.

ついにログ壁が到着しました。早々にログ積み作業の開始です。運送担当のMoilanen Oy社がイキヒリシ工場よりログ壁を運んできました。この建築現場はイキヒリシ工場からそれ程離れていませんので、その利点で、作業に必要な分のみを計画的に運び込む形態をとりました。この方法は一度に部材が到着するのとは異なり、作業を効率よく進める事が出来ます。大工さんとVeli-Matti Moilanenは到着したログ壁材を使用箇所にクレーンで移動します。この作業だけで１週間も費やしましたが好天気に恵まれ、順調に作業を進める事が出来ました。イキヒリシ社とのコンビネーションは最高ですg。

Wonders of log houses insulation work ;)
ログ壁に入れるインシュレーションの指導中

Mikael Ruopsa, Ikihirsis production manager, came to tell about the assembling of log house and insulation work of log corners.
We had a chance to get a extra narrower insulation strip from Ikihirsi for the corners. The narrower insulation strip guarantees that the wind won’t blow inside, because our house is at quite windy place. At the photo next to this the looks at carpenters’ faces are priceless: “You mean, we would put that small insulation strip to every corner??”
After a small conversation we almost agreed about this. We put the insulation strips to their places, like Mikael advised.

イキヒリシ社のプロダクションマネージャーMikael Ruopsaが現場指導の為、やってきました。彼はログ積み作業で重要なポイント、ログ間に挿入するインシュレーションの指導にやって来ました。今回使用するインシュレーションは高気密の物でコーナー部分に使用します。このインシュレーションは風の侵入を完全にシャットアウトするのを保障する物で、この現場は強風地域ですので不可欠な要素となります。次の写真は大工さん達の作業風景とインシュレーションの挿入方法です。指導が終わって各自はMikael Ruopsaの指導に従って、黙々と作業を行いました。

I suppose we have some disagreement of the becoming color of our house. I guess it’ll be brown or grey from Tikkurilas Valtti colors… Time will show which one of us gives up! I wonder if it’s as hard for every builder to choose a color. ;)
I wonder, how Russians presidents’ luxury log house is doing? I heard a full log house kit has left to him from Ikihirsis factory.
さて塗装の件です・・・思案中なのですが、茶色？グレー？　ティックリラのバルチカラーという塗料が候補となっています。色については迷いに迷っている状態ですが、たくさんのビルダー達の意見も参考にして決めます。　そうそうロシア大統領のログハウスは何色に決めたのでしょうか？　その部材はイキヒリシ工場から出荷されたと聞きますが・・・・

We have now ceiling for downstairs

Downstairs partition walls were made of masonry bricks. Buttresses we build several days to downstairs for support the profile steel sheets during the cast. I have also cleaned so much that my cleaning brush terminated of contract, it’s now broken. The superglue and two-side sticky tape are a good first aid for many things :). At the end of steel sheets there are small holes that we had to tape, so the mass won’t drained to downstairs while casting. Took couple of hours to do that, too.

半地下の間仕切壁は人口石のブロックで施工しました。天井下地はスチール板となりますが支えとなる柱の施工には数日間費やしました。その作業と同時にクリーニングをしましたが、私のブラシはボロボロとなり寿命を終えました。瞬間接着剤や両面テープはブラシの応急処置にも使いました。スチール板のエッジには小さな穴がありその穴からコンクリートが流れないようにする為テープで塞ぎました。その作業に２時間ほど費やしました。

For few days we had some rain, so the casting was able to dry slowly. Harder job was when casting was dry: we had to deconstruct the buttress pillars away from downstairs. I can tell that chainsaw was a real helper!
There has been plenty of cleaning the nails out of boards and planks, and probably will be as long as I am willing to clean. Luckily we have cheery volunteer workers a lot in our family. Thank you for help!
この数日、何度か雨になりました。その性で床下地のコンクリートはゆっくりと硬化しました。硬化した後の作業がもっともたいへんでした：地下部分から支えている柱の取り外し作業です。チェーンソーはこの時、便利なものだと痛感しました。また型枠となった板と外して、釘を抜くのも大仕事でした。親戚のボランティア作業にも感謝！

Circular saw has been working without a pause when we have sawed timber. Planks have been long under the shelter when we already have needed them for building. It is a huge help to have our own circular saw and wood. There’s a lot of work at the building site, free time has mostly been used for cleaning.

ラウンドソーはとても役に立ち結構使えました。その柱は建築に必要な時まで十分寝かせられましたので私達の強みでもあります。建築現場ではたくさんの仕事がありますが、時間の空いた時はもっぱら清掃作業です。
